Trace Adkins and wife settle divorce issues amicably

| Jun 26, 2015 | Property Division

A divorce is not only emotionally trying but it also affects the couple’s financial standing. Any divorce in the United States, including one in Tennessee, involves finances, such as property division, child support payments and alimony. In a celebrity high-asset divorce, the finances in question are much greater than in a typical divorce.

In a recent celebrity divorce case, country music singer Trace Adkins has settled his divorce amicably with his estranged wife. The woman initially asked for $20 million in alimony. She also demanded sole custody of their three daughters. However, through mediation, the couple has been able to settle their issues amicably. The couple started living separately in 2014. The reason was cited as “irreconcilable differences;” however, allegedly, Trace Adkins initially struggled with alcohol addiction for about two decades.

The popular singer had been sober for many years. However, apparently, he relapsed in January 2014. He reportedly became violent while he was on a Norwegian Cruise Line cruise. Apparently, his behavior was so extreme that he was asked to leave the ship. Barely two months later, Rhonda filed for divorce. Along with that, Adkins’ wife asked for spousal support, child support and custody of the couple’s three children. Additional property division issues have emerged and the singer would have had to pay $20 million if the divorce had not been settled amicably.

The attorneys of the estranged couple confirmed that the couple has settled their property division matters in an amicable manner. They agreed to settle amicably so that the children would not suffer unnecessarily, according to the attorneys. Now, the court has to approve the settlement, which will depend on the actual agreement that the couple has reached. The couple will also file a petition with the court seeking the court’s approval.
