| Jul 16, 2013 | Child Support

A common dream for many Montgomery parents is to see their child play in the major leagues for sports. In order to get there it takes copious amounts of dedication, financial resources and raw talent. Once in the professional leagues, many players enjoy fame and fortune. For former baseball star Danny Tartabull, he had both. After playing 14 seasons in the majors, Tartabull accumulated $33 million. But when it comes to his children, he strikes out. According to authorities, the ex-baseball player is wanted for failure to pay child support.

Tartabull currently owes around $276,000 in back child support for his two sons. The 50-year-old pleaded no contest for failing to pay child support to his children in 2011, but when he did not meet the terms of his probation, he was ordered to spend 180 days in jail which he still has yet to serve. The former all-star is now believed to be on the run from authorities. Police have currently issued a warrant for his arrest.

There are currently numerous many parents who struggle with making child support payments. Between rent and bills, child support payments are often at the bottom of several individuals’ priority list. The problem is, parents are not the only ones who suffer from missed child support payments. Countless children depend on child support in order to get by. That is why failing to pay child support can often lead to criminal charges if not resolved.

Circumstances will change during one’s life and so can child support agreements. Tennessee parents struggling with child support may request a modification if they desire. An attorney can provide additional information and advice to those interested.
