Reasons not to delay a divorce

While divorces are prominent everywhere, Tennessee has a particularly high rate. In fact, in some counties in the state, the divorce rate is higher than the marriage rate.

Many couples worry about whether divorce is truly right for them. It can seem daunting to pull the trigger, but in many circumstances, it is for the best. While it is understandable if spouses want to try to reconcile their differences before pursuing a divorce, it is best to simply go through with the divorce when the marriage is officially over.

The gap can grow larger

When two spouses want to divorce, the relationship is already virtually broken. However, many spouses are still on relatively good terms with one another, at least to the point where they can talk to one another in a mediation session. If the marriage continues in a damaged state, then the gap between the two people will only grow wider. Perhaps more resentment will form between the couple because they are forcing love. Either way, it is sometimes best to get it over with sooner rather than later.

Friends and family become involved

When one spouse starts contemplating divorce, it is natural to inform close friends and family members about the opinion. These people obviously want nothing but the best for their loved one, but this can complicate matters. These people may delay the process, which as mentioned above, will only foster more resentment. At the end of the day, the only people who will truly go through this process are the two spouses.

Potential new lover

Dating while going through the divorce process is tricky. Spouses should avoid doing this at all costs, but people sometimes cannot help themselves. The longer a bad marriage becomes dragged out, the more likely it is one spouse will start dating again sooner. This is a major contributing factor to resentment.
