Heidi Klum divorce raises child custody questions

| Jan 26, 2012 | Child Custody and Visitation

One of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples is splitting up. Model and TV-show host Heidi Klum spent the weekend shopping around for divorce lawyers and her singer husband Seal admitted that the couple has separated. “Project Runway” and “Germany’s Next Top Model” host Heidi Klum has been married to singer Seal for about eight years but finally decided to split up with him reportedly due to his severe temper.

It is unclear what will happen to the couple’s three children, who are ages six, three, and two. Child custody is one of the most difficult aspects of any divorce and should be handled by an experienced divorce attorney. There are many considerations that go into determining whether sole child custody is warranted. It is best to explain your particular situation to an attorney who can properly guide you on the next steps to take in your case.

In Tennessee there are many courts which will grant split custody but it is important to remember that preferences can range from county to county. For example, some judges prefer one primary resident parent with physical custody. It is important to have an attorney on your side who will be able to best present your case in a manner that is appropriate for the judge that will hear your case.

It is unclear whether child custody is the works in the Heidi Klum divorce. The divorce has yet to be finalized and both parties are still wearing their wedding bands despite acknowledging the split up.

“I don’t know at this point if I would like to get back together,” Klum said. “If it were that easy, we would still be together, that is the reality.”
