Amber Heard says Johnny Depp is slowing divorce process

| Jul 28, 2016 | Divorce

As most readers of this blog are already aware, celebrities Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are in the midst of a highly contentious divorce. In her divorce filing, Heard accused Depp of domestic abuse — and the accusations went public across media outlets like wildfire. Meanwhile, Depp has denied the allegations.

In the most recent turn of events, Heard has accused Depp of trying to stall the divorce process by refusing to share his financial documents, which they require to settle their divorce. However, Depp’s legal team says that they do not dispute Heard’s right to receive the documents. They are waiting for Heard to sign several confidentiality agreements that would secure the confidentiality of the paperwork they hand over.

Heard has further accused Depp’s legal team of being unwilling to schedule a mediation session. Heard says that she is available only on weekends for a mediation, but Depp’s legal counsel refuses to carry out the mediation on a weekend due to an inflexible work schedule.

After Heard filed her divorce paperwork, she received a temporary restraining order against Depp due to her allegations that he was physically and emotionally abusive to her. Meanwhile, although Depp has not addressed the abuse claims, his legal team has denied Heard’s allegations while accusing her of attempting to obtain an early financial resolution through her allegations of abuse.

Heard and Depp have both stayed out of the spotlight while their divorce process is underway. However, Depp recently attended a radio interview in Los Angeles, in which he talked about the more negative aspects of living in the public spotlight.

Fortunately, for the vast majority of Tennessee spouses, their divorce proceedings will not be placed center stage in the public spotlight. This leaves divorcing spouses more energy to focus on the swift and amicable resolution of their divorce proceedings, which can be assisted through the use of an experienced, ethical and conscientious divorce lawyer.
